Part II: NCECA

I flew into Philly where I met my dear friend, Joanie Turbek whom I went to grad school with. We trotted around Philly the first day where we visited the Mutter Museum, the Liberty Bell (see photo) and stuck some around old places. We then drove to Pittsburgh and geeked out for a day at the conference. I planted several on seats and ceramic booths but eventually we made our way to the Andy Warhol Museum. Um..can you say AWESOME?! Seven floors of pop-goodness! We planted WPs on every floor, some near Andy's work and projects. For a grand finale, we put WPs in people's coat pockets in the cloak room. Although we weren't suppose to take pictures, I think Andy would have understood...

Part I: Trip to NCECA (National Council on Education of the Ceramic Arts

Attending NCECA is a ceramist opportunity to geek out! An annual conference which rotates between regions, this year's NCECA was held in Pittsburgh, PA. Getting there was a disaster - I spent more time than I ever wanted to in a series of airports for the first 48 hours. Under tight security, I was able to plant a few WPs around.

Aaron and I went down the SF for the weekend to visit with our friends the Franceses. On Saturday we headed off to the Arboreteum in Golden Gate Park. What a cool place. I've gone past it many times but had yet to go in.
There are approximately 5 rooms with different climates and features. In the left wing they had a 'special feature' room where all of the plants and foliage were arranged in color. There were also some ( i'm guessing) retired carousel animals to liven the place up. We left some pits in their mouths.
But my favorite room was in the right rings where there was a huge pool of water about three feet high with lotus leaves and little diaromas created by some artist. It seemed like a good spot to put some wisdom pits. I hope they don't get mad....
On Sunday we hopped on MUNI to the SF Zoo. It's been along time since I had been there. Either they have done a lot of remodeling or I have a poor memory (probably the latter) but I really liked the exhibits. It's so open and somewhat interactive. I left a few around the exhibits. Hope no animals mistaken them for food. Here is a picture of Sergio exchanging gazes with the silverback gorilla inches away from on of the wisdom pits.
